First Form Latin
First Form Latin is an excellent introductory-level Latin class for students in 5th grade and up.
Memoria Press describes First Form as an "introduction to Latin for students that takes a logical, systematic approach to grammar and syntax."
Students learn over 200 Latin vocabulary words, all 5 Declensions, the active indicative present and perfect systems of the 1st and 2nd Conjugations, 1st/2nd Declension Adjectives, and more.
We teach First Form Latin at two different paces:
Full Book: This class covers the entire book in one year. Students spend one week on each lesson. This class is recommended for students in at least 5th grade. Students complete 5-6 worksheets per lesson and take a quiz at the end of each week. Students can expect to spend 30-45 minutes per day on Latin.
Two-Year Pace: This class splits the book over two years. Students spend two weeks on each lesson. This gentle pace allows more time to memorize vocabulary and grammar. This class is recommended for students in at least 5th grade. (Advanced 4th graders who have had Latina Christiana may also register.) The lesson worksheets and grammar/vocabulary review are spread over two weeks, with a quiz at the end of each lesson. Students can expect to spend approximately 30-35 minutes per day on Latin.
This class meets twice a week for 45 minutes.
